One Month Old

It is hard to believe that Katie Grace is a month old. It seems like yesterday when we were in the hospital. Here is a picture of Katie Grace when she was a week old.

And here she is one month old!

Things she is doing:

-She is starting to smile occasionally. You have to be quick with the camera to catch it.

-She loves to stare at our faces when we talk to her, and she even tries to make her mouth do the same things we are doing (ex: Oooooo, stick out her tongue)

-Random objects in the house will catch her eye and she will just stare so intently at them. She also likes to stare at lights, which sometimes poses a problem during the night feedings because the lamp on my bedside table will catch her eye and she will be mesmerized and forget she is supposed to eat :)

-She doesn't always like to be in her car seat. If she is asleep when you put her in it, she is fine, but if she is awake when you strap her in, she will let you know that she isn't happy. Sometimes she settles down once the car starts to move, but not always.

-Her feeding schedule is starting to be more of a predictable routine, which is nice if I am out and about.

-She is a great sleeper. We have put her in her crib from day one, and she does great in it at night. During the day, she doesn't really like to sleep in her crib, but that is fine because I can put her in the swing or bouncy seat. Usually she wakes up at 1am and 4am to eat, then around 6am or 6:30am she is up for the day. This works out pretty well with Matt's schedule right now since he isn't leaving the house til 6:30am so he is able to see her. We'll see what happens when he goes back on oral surgery.

-She enjoys being carried in the Baby Bjorn. This is nice because it allows me to hold her if she isn't happy in her bouncy seat or swing, but it frees my hands up to be able to do things around the house.

-She likes to hold onto things such as our fingers, burp cloth, or our clothing while she sleeps.

-She recognizes our voices or faces and looks for us when she hears us talking but can't see us.

Katie Grace has brought so much joy to our lives. We can't wait to see what the future holds for us as we journey through life with her.
